Welcome

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy shares some similarities with other talking therapies. You’ll be invited to explore the issues you’d like support with, as well as your hopes and goals for therapy.

What makes hypnotherapy different is the use of a technique known as hypnotic induction, where I gently guide you into a deeply focused, inward-looking state, essentially a state of concentration or absorption.

While in this state, I will offer positive suggestions, support you in reframing unhelpful thoughts or patterns, and encourage you to use your imagination to rehearse or explore helpful situations.

This process has been shown to support therapeutic change across a wide range of issues.

What to expect

Everyone responds to hypnosis in their own unique way. Some people experience a deep state of absorption, while others remain in a lighter, more relaxed state. Positive change is possible across the full spectrum of experience.

During the session, I may invite you to imagine certain scenarios or outcomes that relate to your goals. Depending on your needs, we might work with future-focused visualisation or explore past experiences. I will always check in to make sure you feel comfortable with the approach being used.

Sessions are tailored to you. You can find more information on the hypnotherapy process at:

Therapeutic outcomes

Hypnotherapy has been shown to be helpful in supporting people with a wide variety of concerns. However, as with any therapeutic process, results can vary between individuals.

Factors that can influence the effectiveness of hypnotherapy include:

  • Your level of motivation and commitment

  • Your responsiveness to the process

  • Your willingness to engage in tasks between sessions

Some people notice improvements quickly, while others may need more time and sessions to experience lasting change.
